Asking for wisdom

Recently in the mornings I have been reading and meditating on 1 Kings.  In chapter 3 God appears to Solomon in a dream and God said "Ask whatever you want me to give you"  Solomon asks for wisdom.  This pleases God and in the next two chapters we see how God gave Solomon exceedingly abundant wisdom.

I am constantly in need of wisdom and asking God to give this to me.  Knowing it is a prayer that pleases God is encouraging, but I went on to look for promises God makes to give wisdom so I can ask in faith.  The first  one I thought of  is James 1:5,6

There are many references to seeking wisdom in Proverbs. Proverbs 2:3-6 states:

"If you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding."
